Network program Space-X: Stroom welcomes Martin Netočný
Last week, Martin Netočný, curator of the City Gallery in Prague, visited Stroom Den Haag as part of the Space-X network program. Several meetings with cultural colleagues took place, along with a tour of art projects at schools and in the public space, including works by Annechien Meier, Nynke Koster, Berry Holslag, and James Turrell.
Space-X
Stroom is one of the partners in the European international network program Spatial Practices in Art and Architecture for Empathetic Exchange (Space-X). The program is financially supported by Creative Europe from the European Union and jointly explores the role networks of art and culture can play in the public domain, as well as the impact these networks have on connection, social cohesion, and equality in society. The aim is to create a cross-sectoral and Europe-wide exchange of knowledge, in which researchers (academics, writers, artists, architects, curators, and observers) map out the ways in which spatial art practices contribute to public debate, opinion formation, and mutual empathy.
Knowledge and research
Ongoing investment in research and knowledge development is a key theme in Stroom’s activities. We do this together with artists and partners, on a project basis, through digital platforms, and with various long-term research strands. In 2023, several research projects made progress, allowing Stroom to continue investing in knowledge development, a professional network, and deepening the relationship between art and society.
