Galvani Elementary School unveils new artwork by Sarah Carlier

Friday, October 18, 2024
Location: Galvanistraat 43, The Hague

Last Friday, October 18, the principal of Openbare Basisschool Galvani unveiled a new work of art by The Hague artist Sarah Carlier amid loud cheers from students, parents and other interested parties. The project is part of the Art at Schools program in which Stroom Den Haag has been connecting artists to schools in The Hague for decades. For this work, Carlier went in search of traces near the school and in the school itself. The discoveries led to a workshop with the students and were incorporated into blueprints that are reflected in the final artwork. Previously, Carlier's proposal with the blueprints was on display at Stroom in the exhibition Speelruimte (Playroom), which featured the Art at Schools program.

The unveiling at Galvani School was a rather unique occasion to which, in addition to students, parents and staff of the school, other interested parties were invited as well.
