In the dunes of The Hague, where light can be so tangibly present, James Turrell—at the invitation of Stroom Den Haag—has created a place to gaze at the sky: “Celestial Vault in Kijkduin'. This large-scale landscape artwork draws on the actual light to evoke experiences in the individual viewer that transcend the purely sensory. Through Turrell’s work, the Dutch light becomes visible in itself and takes on an emotional and spiritual impact. This publication was released to mark the completion of the project and two new installations by the artist at Stroom Den Haag, which was then located on the Spui in The Hague.
