This book is a major outcome of the two-year project Islands of Kinship, that interconnects and transforms the practical functioning of six mid-scale visual art institutions across diverse regions in Europe (Prague, Bratislava, Bitola/Skopje, Cologne, Helsinki, Riga) in an innovative collaboration model addressing issues of inclusion, kinship and togetherness, democratic exchange and the ethics, emotions and practical solutions for environment-friendly institutional operation. The publication offers reflections of cultural workers and artists who participated in differing roles and areas in the process of instituting the change and showcases art that has been exhibited under the frameworks of four programmatic lines: New Agora, Kinship and Family in the 21st Century, Beyond Ecology, and Inclusive (Curatorial) Strategies
