Want to learn more about how you can contribute to strengthening the position of artists in the cultural sector? Meet Platform BK! Platform BK is an association by and for art workers, based on solidarity, working towards fair practices in a fair society.
After an introduction, we will explore the challenges artists face in a hands-on workshop. Many of these challenges are, in fact, less individual than they may seem.
Inspired by Arpentage, a reading technique developed within the 19th-century workers’ movement, we will explore the power of collectivity and solidarity. Together, we will investigate how we can organise ourselves both within and beyond the cultural sector.
We will then build ‘speculative structures of solidarity’ together. By mapping each other’s individual needs and resources, we will use these as building blocks for collective ‘hacks’ that can help improve our artistic professional practices, our everyday lives, and the world we live in.
