Ouborg Award 2024 presented to Aline Thomassen

The Ouborg Award 2024, the Hague's city award for visual art, has been awarded to Aline Thomassen. On Friday, 29 November, the artist will receive the award from the hands of alderman for culture Saskia Bruines. The award consists of a sum of €25,000 as a stimulus for the artist's further practice as well as a solo exhibition at Kunstmuseum Den Haag which will be opened this evening. The Ouborg Award is a joint initiative of the Municipality of The Hague, Kunstmuseum Den Haag and Stroom Den Haag. This is the nineteenth time that the Ouborg Award is handed out to an artist.

At the official award ceremony of the Ouborg Award and the opening of the exhibition Shape of the Heart, Margriet Schavemaker (director of Kunstmuseum Den Haag) will deliver a welcome address. Alexandra Landré (artistic director of Stroom Den Haag) will speak as the chair of the jury, followed by Saskia Bruines (alderman for culture), who will present the Ouborg Award to laureate Aline Thomassen. The evening will be complete with live music by Ghalia Benali.

The exhibition Shape of the Heart will be on display at the Kunstmuseum Den Haag from 29 November 2024 to 30 March 2025.
