Foodscape Schilderswijk
Can food create a more enjoyable neighborhood with healthier people, where growing food together fosters new connections? This question inspired artist Debra Solomon to create the Foodscape Schilderswijk project, developed as part of the long-term Foodprint program. Food for the city.
Together with local residents and neighborhood organizations, she and her Stichting Urbaniahoeve (Urbaniahoeve Foundation) are creating various foodscapes of herb lawns, fruit trees, and berry bushes. Gardening, maintenance, and cooking are casually connected with urban farming and shared responsibility for public spaces. Through the active involvement of the residents themselves, the neighborhood is transformed into a beautiful place where people harvest delicious food.
