Location: The Lighthouse, Stevinstraat 65 e, The Hague

With the new building by the architectural firm Scala (Peter Drijver), the Koningin Julianaschool in Scheveningen was renamed De Vuurtoren (The Lighthouse). Both the architect and the school had a preference for a visual art application in the stairwell.In an environment where selection and competition are inevitable, the artist duo Sylvie Zijlmans / Hewald Jongenelis created a number of group portraits of unusual teams formed by the artists.The “usual” trophies (symbols of competition and success) were given a place in a wall sculpture in the stairwell, visible from the street.The work was completed on 10 December, 2004.
