Peter Giele designed four enamel signs, each with a whimsical pattern of black lines and a different area colored black on each sign. Color felt-tip pens in enamel boxes were included with the boards.
The children could fill in the line drawings with the removable colors of the accompanying felt-tip pens. Despite the recognizable representations, filling in could only lead to abstract compositions.
