Marieke van Diemen, 2005

Location: Prinsehaghe elementary school, Prinsegracht 182, The Hague

The new building for Prinsehaghe Elementary School, designed by Geurst & Schulze architects, contains a central, multifunctional space annex media library.Marieke van Diemen's design for that space consists of an object that is intended to act as a focus for the school in a figurative sense but is also usable in a literal sense. It consists of three parts - a pyramid, arena and table/podium - which in turn consist of several independently movable and moveable parts. Because of this mobility, the space can be arranged and used as desired. The work was completed on March 17, 2005.
