Can food contribute to a more enjoyable neighborhood with healthier residents, where growing food together fosters new connections? This question inspired artist Debra Solomon to start the project Foodscape Schilderswijk. Together with local residents and neighborhood organizations, she and her foundation Urbaniahoeve have created various foodscapes featuring herb lawns, fruit trees, and berry bushes. Gardening, maintenance, and cooking are casually integrated with urban agriculture and a shared care for public spaces. Through the active involvement of the residents, the neighborhood transforms into a beautiful space where delicious food is harvested.

Urbaniahoeve, a Social Design Lab for Urban Agriculture, encourages city dwellers to manage their own food production and storage.

Foodscape Schilderswijk is part of the multi-year Foodprint program by Stroom Den Haag and is made possible with support from:
The City of The Hague (Citizenship Fund, Nature and Environmental Communication), Housing Corporation Haag Wonen, Fonds 1818, Stichting DOEN, Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, and Fonds BKVB.
