Ben van Os - Transparent screen of silver colored material, 1995

Location: Wedding Room, City Hall Den Haag

Originally, next to the 4 large vases blown in Venetian technique, Van Os designed a black and white screen to be placed like a prop in front of the big window facing the very close facade of the Ministry of Home Affairs building. The screen has small, red LED lights and interchangeable figures for changing the dates. Later, Van Os designed a more festive atmosphere using red and gold fabric that had been especially designed for the Medici family during the Renaissance period. A canopy now hangs above the bride and groom, the black chairs are now upholstered, there are also cushions and banners on the side of the atrium.

The transparent screen of silver colored material contains 72 silk-screened wedding photographs; on the edge in 17 languages the text ‘I do', ‘to wed is to love, to love is to wed'; rennaissance fabric have since been added.
