catalogue accompanying the similar titled exhibition. Gino De Dominicis may be regarded as one of the most emblematic and mysterious figures of Italian art in the period following WWII. The artist, used various techniques and defined himself as a painter, sculptor, philosopher and architect, independent of both fashions and neo-avant-garde groups, neither in Arte Povera, nor in the Transavanguardia, nor in the conceptual art. He surrounded himself with an aura of mystery and unavailability, savouring both exhibitions and public appearances. His reputation developed as much out of an absence as from a presence: he avoided the press and refused to have any of his works reproduced photographically. The exhibition, curated by Achille Bonito Oliva, takes on a far-reaching journey through the artist's entire output, bringing together a total of almost 140 works, together with a selection of the many papers and articles written by him. In addition to the curator, other scholars from different backgrounds reconstruct the vast scenario of the artist's cultural interests.
