Artist statement: Kevin Bauer (Invest)

With my fast-paced working process I generate images in a short time span. The process is very intuitive and practical, thus I sustain myself from continuous contemplation on my work. This approach creates a quick creation process in which I use raw materials, consumer articles and artefacts. I construct my works very precise as I find details very important. In my opinion, details can make or break an artwork. Although I make spacious works of art it often feels as if I am drawing or painting. A rhythmic batch of wooden slates side by side, looks like dark and thick brush strokes and a square frame look like pencil scratches. Still, some works resemble daily situations induced by the use of consumer goods. At the moment, I am working on a series of objects that deliberately refer to consumer products. Forthcoming of human activity, a collection of objects often occupies a space for a longitudinal time period - something, for which they are not intended. For example, cluttered attics and storage spaces; seemingly purposeless arrangements of objects caught in-between its origin and destination.
