Joost Swarte, 2014

Bavinckschool, Acaciastraat 141, The Hague

Location: Bavinckschool, Acaciastraat 141, The Hague
Installed: December 2014

The Bavinckschool is a typical example of a school building from the early 1900s, complete with glazed columns and a magnificent stairwell. During the renovations the stained-glass windows were removed from the stairwell. This was experienced as a great loss. Stroom Den Haag set out on a search for artists specialized in working with glass and windows. This led us to Joost Swarte who, in addition to his work as an illustrator, is a great specialist in this field.

Joost Swarte designed a new stained-glass window for the stairwell of the school. Swarte found his inspiration in the teaching method of 'multiple  intelligence' as it is used at the Bavinck school.
