START UP is an inspiring and informative program for and about starting artists, organized by Stroom Den Haag in collaboration with the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague.
The afternoon program focusses on current developments of artistic practice and the significance of the Academy and Stroom for young artists in The Hague. It is an interactive session, meant to share information in dialogue. In the evening the program continues with presentations by several (inter)national curators and critics. In between these sessions (18:00-19:30 hrs), we offer a simple meal at a nearby location.

Presentations and exchange of ideas
16:00 - 18:00 hrs
The afternoon session is specifically meant for artists and autonomous designers that recently graduated from the Academy and focusses on the first years of the artistic practice. Presentations by local artists Gabriel Holysz, Floris Kaayk and Pia Louwerens are alternated with Q&A sessions in dialogue with the audience about developments, opportunities and demands of the artistic practice these days and the significance of Stroom, the Academy and possibly other organisations for starting creative professionals.
The afternoon offers the audience the possibility to share knowledge, experience and insight. And to meet the people behind the organisations. For Stroom and the Academy it is important to map the wishes and needs of starting artists in order to shape future policy.

Public talks Invest Conference
20:00 - 22:00 hrs

In the evening the public part of the Stroom Invest Conference 2015 takes place. Ten international curators will talk about their experiences and will share their ideas and viewpoints with the audience. Moderator is Eelco van der Lingen, director Nest. This is a great opportunity to meet&greet these professionals personally and to strengthen the international network.
The Invest Conference is connected with the PRO Invest subsidy, an important grant for young, recently graduated artists helping them in the further development of their career and stimulating their active participation in the art scene of The Hague. For more information, click here.

At Stroom the exhibition Counting on People by Neïl Beloufa will be accessible before and after the program.
