Esther Hovers (Amsterdam, 1991) graduated from the Royal Academy of Art The Hague in 2015. In her work she focuses on the relationship between man and architecture. When is architecture an expression of power? What control does public space have over its users? These questions take center stage in her work. Hovers approaches these issues as a documentary photographer.

Exercising control in public space comes to expression in more areas than urban design and architecture. In her work Hovers also investigates the influence of far-reaching camera surveillance. Recurring themes in the various works in her OpZicht presentation are her fascination with control and the relationship between environment and behaviour.
