Jef Stapel creates 'paintings' from discarded material from renovations, like plywood planels and (occasionally) perspex. The existing layers of paint and other elements form the basis for his interventions. He saws and breaks the plates into bits and pieces, cuts out a variety of shapes, glues and hammers them back together again and sometimes adds a strip of paint.
