Elementary school Het Galjoen, Anna Blamanplein 15, Den Haag

Elementary school Het Galjoen, designed by the architect's firm of Mecanoo architecten b.v., was the first school to profit from the percentage for art rule instated by the Mondrian Foundation and executed by Kunst & Bedrijf and Stroom. As each and every corner of the interior of the school was used for educational purposes, the artist Olaf Mooij looked to the exterior of the school for inspiration. He designed an oversized game of table football which he placed on the edge of the roof of the gymnasium. The man-sized dolls are set into motion by the wind. The accompanying ball hangs from a lamppost in the schoolyard.
